Introduction

An alter is a box that appears at the top of your page beneath the hero icon/ search bar. It can be used to give a general announcements or direct users to important resources. This feature is most often used to highlight emergency resources.

Styles and Configuration Options

There are two alter variants. Both can be configured to have a clickable button.

Here is an example of the Default (neutral) variant that is displaying a text-only alert. This variant appears with black text in a white box.

In this example, the Urgent (red) variant is configured to have a clickable button that takes uses to a page with additional resources.

Step-by-Step

  1. Click on Settings.

  2. Click on the Alerts tab.

  3. Click Add Alert.

  4. Type the alert text.

  5. Type the button text (optional).

  6. Add URL to create a clickable button (optional). Remember to include https://

  7. Checking this box will cause the browser to open a new tab when the user clicks on the button (optional).

  8. Select the variant you want you use.

  9. Click Save at the top of the page.

  10. Alert should appear on the front-page within 10 minutes.

Linking to Specific Resources

You can use the button configuration to direct to specific resources in your directory. Here are a few ways to do that.

Link to a Specific Resource Card

If there is a singular resource that is recommended to users, you could link directly to the resource card. Simply look up the resource in your directory, click See more, and copy the URL of the resource card.

Create Custom Search Links

You can build your own URL to have a pre-filled search. See How to make custom search links for more information.

πŸ’‘Tip: If you aren't technologically inclined, another way to make a custom link is to do the search in the directory and copy the URL πŸ˜‰

Link to a Public Favorites List

If you'd like to direct users to a specific collection of resources, you can make a public list in favorites.

  1. Create a list and set to Public:

  2. Open the list in Favorites and click the share button.

  3. Copy the URL onto your clipboard by clicking this box.
